Viking bread

P3 have been learning all about the Vikings. We learned about what sorts of food the Viking people would have ate, such as meat and fruit and vegetables. Vikings did eat bread but not quite like the bread we have nowadays. We decided to try out a recipe for bread that had similar ingredients and methods to what the Vikings would have used. They didn’t use any raising agents like yeast or bicarbonate of soda and so the bread was very flat!
Our bread had a crumbly texture a bit like an oatcake. We ate it with honey. The P3 children enjoyed having Viking food and they even sang some of the songs from their show while they were making and eating.baking 001
