Today was Nursery Three’s ‘Outdoor Day’ so the children got the wet suits and wellies on and headed outside to play in the adventure area. This area is fantastic for challenging the children to try something a bit more daring and adventurous. The children are encouraged only to do things they can do by themselves, so they can get a better sense of what they can achieve. We have found that there is a lot of cooperative play in this area, with children encouraging each other if they get stuck or are not sure what to do. Today there were some huge muddy puddles and the children had lots of fun splashing, jumping and squelching. The adults even joined in too. It was great to hear so much laughter as they did something they probably wouldn’t get to do often. Some even discovered that they could roll down a hill sideways!
