On Friday 19th April, a team of three pupils from our P7 and P6/7 class were put forward to compete in this year’s Enterprising Maths Challenge at Aberdeen University. After a hard day of working through some very difficult mathematical problems, the children found out that they had won the competition! Over thirty teams took part in the competition.
The Mathematical Challenge is a problem-solving competition for individual pupils in Scottish secondary schools and upper primary schools (mainly P7). The competition began in Session 1976-77, following an initiative by the SMC Chairman of the time, Professor E.M. Patterson. The aim is to promote mathematics as a source of interest and pleasurable achievement.
