Today Room 28 took part in the 2nd engineering challenge of the week. The challenge was to build a den for Baby Bear using different construction sets which we have in class. This was a practical hands-on exercise after which the children were encouraged to share information about what they had built. The children worked in groups of two to create their den.
The children discovered that some building sets were better to work with than others. They discovered that some building sets fitted together but others just sat on top and wobbled or even fell down. They worked out that if you put bricks together a certain way you can build a really strong wall.
Do you think we made good Civil Engineers?
